You should only add your family members’ names on your assets under very limited circumstances. If you put them on those assets, then they can be considered an owner of part of those assets. It’s very important to talk to an elder law attorney before you move forward and do this, and 99.9 percent of people also need a will, even if you have family members’ names listed on your assets.
