It is possible to give all of your property away before you die in order to avoid estate taxes. However, you must do this in a manner that you’re slowly giving away enough money to the right people and small enough increments so that it’s not count towards your lifetime giving limits. It’s a very good idea to see a financial advisor and an attorney to make sure that you’re staying within these limits when making these types of gifts.
