It’s a common misconception that if you’re in a nursing home, then you have to spend all of your assets before you can apply for the Medicaid program. However, with the advice of an elder law attorney, you could take some of your countable assets and transfer those into non-countable assets and not have to spend all of your money on private pay care before you can apply for the Medicaid program.
