I am single. What happens if I have to go to a nursing home?

You have two options if you’re single and going to a nursing home. You can go in as a private pay resident and pay seven to ten thousand dollars per month. Your other option is to go in under the Medicaid ICP program and then only your income minus your one hundred five dollar personal needs allowance per month will go towards paying the cost of your care. If you’re a single person, you can also keep your non-countable assets as exempt assets and up to two thousand dollars in a bank account.
