Yes, first you have to disclose on your application if you have given anything away within the previous 5 years before your application. You are required to give that information under penalty of fraud. Further, the Department of Children and Families will investigate your assets for 5 years back to see whether you’ve given anything away. You are also required to give a financial release so they can do this.
