What happens to my veterans benefits if I go into a nursing home?

If you’re receiving veteran’s benefits and you into a nursing home and you’re a private pay resident, then those veteran’s benefits will continue and you can use those for the cost of your care. However, if you transfer over to the Medicaid ICP program, then those aid and attendance benefits will drop down to $90 per month. However, that is an additional $90 per month that you’ll be able to retain in addition to the $105 that you have under the personal needs allowance under the Medicaid program.
