What is long term care?

Long term care is a type of care that can be provided in a skilled nursing facility, also known as a nursing home. Generally somebody is a candidate for long term care when they need assistance with more than three out of five of activities of daily living. Activities of daily living are ambulating, bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting.
