First, not all nursing homes accept medicaid, so if you’d like to get on the medicaid program, you’ll want to look for nursing homes that accept medicaid. Next, you’ll want to go and tour nursing homes. Sometimes, nursing homes have scheduled tours and it’s also a good idea just to drop in when they’re not expecting you to see how that nursing home is run. You should talk to the administrator at the nursing home and find out what type of amenities they have at that type of nursing home and also what types of restrictions. For example, some nursing homes will not let the residents use a motorized wheelchair which could be very important to some residents.
