I thought that when I retired I got Medicare. Is that true?

Well you have to be 65 if you’re receiving Medicare based on your age so if you retire early there will be a gap from the time of your retirement to the time you qualify for Medicare. Also, Medicare is not automatic. You do have to apply for it so take the appropriate steps to insure that you receive this benefit when you turn age 65 or earlier if you are disabled.
